WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -

Former UVA quarterback Phillip Sims has found a new home at Division II Winston-Salem State.

Sims heads to his third school in the last three years. The one-time top-ranked quarterback in the country out of Chesapeake started his career at Alabama before transferring to UVA last summer. But after one season of sharing time with Michael Rocco, Simms was ruled academically ineligible.

He won't be eligible for the Rams until he sits out this coming season. Sims appeared in 12 games for the Cavaliers, starting four.
