WYTHE CO., Va. -

George Wythe football coach H.S. Ingo has been charged with hazing and subjecting a student to corporal punishment for an alleged incident involving a football player.

Grayson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Douglas Vaught, who was appointed special prosecutor in the case, announced the charges Friday.

Both charges are misdemeanors. The charges will be heard in Wythe County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court at a later date.

The charges stem from an alleged incident where a football player was reportedly told in January to place chains around his neck, and then told to run up and down bleachers while other student-athletes looked on.

No one else has been charged in relation to the allegations.

"The complaining witnesses and defendants are all entitled to a fair presentation of the case in Court and should not be subjected to public disclosure of the evidence and argument prior to trial," Vaught wrote in a news release.

Ingo led George Wythe to the state championship in 2012 and was named Friday Football Extra's Group A Coach of the Year.

Ingo, 47, was also a teacher for Wythe County Public Schools at the time of the alleged incident.
