ROANOKE, Va. -

At the Explore Park Saturday, more than one hundred youngsters competed in the second event of the Virginia High School Mountain Bike racing series.

And it was a great showing by the local race team sponsored by East Coasters bike shop. Kyle Plunkett, a 15-year-old freshman at Cave Spring High School, won the varsity division-which consisted of four, four-mile loops around the hilly course.

Aaron Workowski, also from Roanoke, won the junior varsity division. The East Coasters junior mountain bike squad also claimed the top honor in the team classification.

But perhaps it was Williamsburg's Autumn Bartels who stole the show. The nine-year-old beat all the boys in the elementary division.

There are three more races in the series that concludes in May.
