The Spring sports season came to an end Saturday, with6 new area state champions crowned. In girls soccer, Blacksburg earned its first ever state title, defeating Kettle Run 1-0 in the 3A title game. Jane Everett scored the Bruins’ goal in the second minute. In group 4A, Jefferson Forest fell to Dominion in penalty kicks 4-3. Katie Cousins had a pair of goals for the Cavaliers.

For the 64th year, the annual B'nai B'rith Athletic and Academic Achivement Awards ceremony recognized some of the Valley's top student-athletes.

Two high school students receive Cosmopolitan scholarships

Katie Fortner of Cave Spring High School and Lord Boteourt's Chase Ferrell will each receive a $3,000 scholarship. Fortner plans on attending Clemson while Ferrell will go to Virginia Tech. Both plan on continuing their track careers in college.


North Cross Tennis finds success on court

It's a great time to be a member of North Cross Raider tennis.

Both the boys and girls teams are closing in on conference championships which will be determined Saturday.
