DAN RIVER, Va. -

Appomattox threw a scare into Gretna last week thanks in part to quarterback Kendall Blankenship.  The Raiders missed out on a playoff spot last season, but could take a step closer to one this year with a win at Dan River.  But the Edmunds family didn't plan on making things easy.

On the second half kickoff,  Dan River's Terrell Edmunds was anxious to make a play and he did just that. He fielded the kick and found plenty of daylight and a few blocks that help.  Edmunds motored 90 big yards on the return making a house call and putting Dan River on top 7-nothing.

Later in the third, Dan River's Brian Cook tossed to Edmunds near the 25 yard line, he outran the Appomattox defense, shaking a tackle.  Edmunds ran 75 yards into the endzone making it 14 to nothing, Dan River.

The Raiders Kendall Blankenship was sacked by Tremaine Edmunds near the 45 yard line and lost three yards.

A few plays later in the fourth, Blankenship did have something go right.  He threw 30 yards to Buster Henderson in the endzone, it was good for a touchdown and the first score for Appomattox.  But Dan River had just enough in a 21-14 win.
