In the 1A ranks Fort Chiswell went on the road to face top-seeded Essex on the Eastern Shore.

In the first quarter, Essex came up with a big stop when the Pioneers go for it on 4th-and-goal from inside the 1. Fort Chiswell outgained the Trojans 91 to 1 in the opening quarter.

The Pioneers got on the board in the second quarter on the Dallas Ward three-yard touchdown run, making it 7- 0 Fort Chiswell. But after that Essex settled in and on its next possession, Dominek Broaddus went to Dartanious Jones for the 51-yard touchdown, making it 7-6 Trojans.

Essex soon took the lead when Jones found the endzone again, this time from a yard out, putting the Trojans up 12-7.

Essex went on to beat Fort Chiswell, 38-13. The Pioneers finish their season at 12-2.
