This week's FFE Flashback take a ride on the time machine back to 1993 tonight, when the Giles Spartans found themselves in the Group A, Division Two state title game against Central-Lunenburg.
It was a snow-blown, frigid afternoon in Pearisburg in December of 1993 as the Spartans took on the defending state champs. Giles got 152 yards rushing and three touchdowns from fullback Peter Janney who picked up the slack for star tailback Raypheal Milton, limited to passing downs because of a sprained ankle. Giles won the game 27 to 18, and finished 14-0 for the second time, beating three unbeaten teams in a row on the way to the school's second state crown.
And you might recognize this current ESPN Nascar reporter, Marty Smith who as all choked up.
Marty Smith said, "All the practices and hard work, two a days, and now we're number one babe."
