Last year Floyd County shocked George Wythe on the road, ending the Maroons’ 18-game regular season winning streak.
Winfred Beale's Buffaloes cracked the win column last week against Patrick County and they needed every bit of momentum Friday night against a Maroons team that hadn't forgotten what happened last September.
The Buffaloes hoping to get Coach Beale his 200th win Friday night.
But George Wythe got on the board first as John Smith knocks through a 37-yard field goal to put the Maroons up 3 to nothing early in the 1st.
The Buffaloes quickly answer back as Matt Barry called his own number on fourth down, sprinted to the far sideline, shows some speed and he's in for the score and it was 6-to-3 after the missed point.
Midway through the second, Barry does it again with his legs, from his own 25 breaking through to the sideline getting pushed out of bounds deep in Maroon territory gaining 50 big ones on the play.
But three plays later, Barry goes to the air and gets picked by Casey Lake. And George Wythe takes over.
The Maroons have something cooking. Trey Skeens stayed in bounds, broke some arm tackles, and walked in for the touchdown.
George Wythe all over Floyd, 28-6, the final.
