CAMPBELL CO., Va. -

Heritage was just behind Lord Botetourt in the 3A West standings.  The Pioneers, the Seminole District's only unbeaten, made the short trip down Timberlake Road in Lynchburg this week to visit Brookville.

The Bees have lost 3 of their last 4 games. Looking for a big boost this week toward the end of the regular season, but the Pioneers took a 7-0 lead just 90 seconds in and then on their next drive, Austin Fitzgerald kept it himself up the middle then sprinted down the sideline where he was eventually knocked out of bounds at the 22 for a big 51-yard gain.

Five plays later, Frankie Hickson bulled-in from 3 yards out for his second TD of the game. Heritage was up 14- nothing.

In the second quarter, the Pioneers' defense stepped-up. Neal Reynolds let a pass get away from him, over-throwing Ben Hogg and Tyquante Sims picked it off. Sims cut back across the field and tried to make a miracle return on it but he was eventually taken down at their own 27.

Reynolds went to the air again later second, and once again he found the hands of a Heritage defender. Jamik Alexander got the interception this time.

Brookville made this one a game in the second, but Heritage held-off the Bees rally to win 17-14.
