- Northside 24, Amherst 10, start of 4Q: The host Vikings have an early lead in our WDBJ7 Friday Football Extra Game of the Week.

- Giles 23, Blacksburg 22, 2:48 left in 3rd Q: The Spartans returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, but the Bruins blocked the PAT. A bit later, the Spartans went up 8-0 on a safety. The Spartans evened things up on a long touchdown pass, and then converted the two-point conversion. The Bruins went back on top, 15-8, on a long touchdown pass. Giles evened it up at 15 in the third quarter. Giles went ahead 23-22 on an 80-yard TD run in the third quarter.

- Salem 38, Franklin County 0, 1:42 left in 4th Q: Devante Payne scored from eight yards out after an early Eagles fumble. The Spartans went up by two touchdowns on a 1-yard run by Chandler Hunt late in the 1st half. Kyle Reighard booted a field goal to put the Spartans ahead 17-zip with 8:27 left in the 3rd. The Spartans went ahead 31-0 on a 9-yard run by Hunt with 5:55 left in the fourth.

- Christiansburg 21, Pulaski 7, 3rd Q: The Blue Demons got on the board first with an 11-yard TD run. They padded the lead with a 21-yard TD pass.

- Parry McCluer 17, Rockbridge 16: The Blues struck first with an early safety. The Wildcats responded with a pass to Trey Merchant for a touchdown. A Cheyenne Pooley TD put Rockbridge back on top, 13-9.

- Bath County 8, Eastern Montgomery 0, start of 3Q: After a scoreless opening quarter, the Chargers got on the board with a safety. Bath County struck again with a touchdown 27 second into the second half, but the PAT failed.

- Patrick Henry 17, Hidden Valley 0, start of 4Q: The Titans and Patriots were scoreless after one quarter. But the Patriots ran a punt back for a touchdown to take the lead.

- Galax 35, Glenvar 28, Start of 4th Q: The host Highlanders took an early advantage. But the Maroon Tide's Steven Peoples rattled off a 61-yard touchdown run to even things at seven apiece. Peoples then returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown with 9:59 left in the first half to put Galax up 14-7. Joseph Dixon put Galax ahead 21-7 with a 32-yard TD run with 6:50 left in the first half. The Highlanders made it 21-14 with 1:10 left in the 1st half. The Highlanders climbed within a point after scoring a touchdown with 6:50 left in the 3Q. Glenvar recovered the ensuing onsides kick, and cashed in on it a bit later. The Highlanders then went for two and converted, giving them a 28-21 lead.

- Magna Vista 56, McMichael (N.C.) 0: The Warriors are off to a fast start.

- Jefferson Forest 31 Halifax 7, end of 1Q: The host Cavaliers are cruising early.

- William Byrd 21, Cave Spring 7, halftime: The host Terriers lead by two touchdowns in both teams' season opener.

- Alleghany 7, Covington 6, middle of 2Q: The visiting Mountaineers are clinging to a one-point lead.

- Fort Chiswell 42, Rural Retreat 0, Halftime: 7:35 left in the 1st Half.

- Altavista 28, Prince Edward 0, halftime: The Colonels are up big at the half.

- Craig County 20, Bland County 18: 8:36 left in 4th Quarter.

- George Wythe 14, Radford 7, halftime: The visiting Bobcats  had the early advantage over the Bulldogs. But George Wythe went ahead with two straight touchdowns.

- Auburn 7, Narrows 0: The visiting Eagles lead early.

- Carroll County 49, Floyd 14: End of 3rd Quarter.

- William Fleming 25, Fluvanna 0: 3rd Auarter.

- Lord Botetourt 36, James River 0: Middle of the 4th Quarter.

- Gretna 42, Brookville, 13, 9:36 left in 4th Q: The Bees' unbeaten streak might be in jeopardy tonight.

- Liberty 26, Staunton River 13: 9:30 left in 3Q.
