ALTAVISTA, Va. -

In 1A East, second seeded Altavista hosted Northumberland.  Mike Scharnus's team and quarterback Juan Thornhill looking to start the posteason right.

The Colonels, winners of 5-straight with a 9 and 1 record against the 3 and 7 Indians, who were riding 5-straight losses coming into the game.

Altavista wasted no time getting the scoring going. Juan Thornhill hit Kenavus Jones on their first play from scrimmage and Jones took it 43 yards to the house. It was 7- nothing Colonels.

On the next possession, on the first play of the drive again, Thornhill handed off to Destin Brown. He found the endzone from 27 yards out and it was 13- nothing after a missed extra point.

Altavista kept after it. This time it was Clydale Moon getting the hand-off and he broke loose down the sideline for a 64 yard touchdown run. The Colonels scored 6 touchdowns on just 7 plays of offense to start the game. They were up 20-6 after this Moon TD.

Thornhill kept it himself on their next possession and made some nice moves to avoid some tackles. Thornhill was in for the 22-yard touchdown.

Altavista rolled to a 62-18 win over Northumberland.
