ROANOKE CO., Va. -

Last season Cave Spring made the 3A West playoffs where the Knights fell to Western Albemarle.

Coach Tim Fulton will have a roster dotted with upperclassmen this season who hope to leave their mark.

“The guys that have come in front of you have laid groundwork,” Fulton said. “They've shown you the way. They've been great examples and great leaders for you. But at the end of the day, when we start this season, your record is 0-0. You will make this what you choose to make of it.”

The Knights are set at the skill positions, returning quarterback Alex Emery to the field this season along with two-way star Zac Foutz, who has an offer from Liberty. The line is mostly new, but coach Fulton says that success won't necessarily be based on wins and losses.

“Success is measure many, many different ways,” Fulton said. “What we simply talk about is if we know something or things that we did wrong yesterday, and we can fix those things today. That is success and we will gain ground every single day if we can continue to do that.”
