Pulaski County was after its 4th straight win over Blacksburg this week. The average margin of victory for the Cougars in the previous three was more than 27 points.
The students were wearing pink for breast cancer awareness.
The 3 and 1 Bruins planned to make it difficult though in the friendly confines of Bill Brown Stadium.
Picking one up in the 3rd Q with Pulaski leading 13-0, Blacksburg drove. 3 and 14 on the 47 yard line.
#5 Issac Johnston found #10 Josh Williams for a 20 yard gain on the play. A couple of plays later, #8 Carson Wise split the uprights from 25 yards out to put Blacksburg on the board. It was Pulaski 13- Blacksburg 3.
A Couple of possessions later, Pulaski's #5 Tyler Ervine took a punt in his own territory and brought it back across midfield to give Pulaski great field position to start the drive. The drive would end by Blacksburg blocking the FG.
It was 1&10 on the 31. Blacksburg had the ball and was trying to make a final push. After 2 consecutive completions #5 Johnston found #3 Ethan Goforth again for about a 15 yard gain to put Blacksburg in the red zone.
On the next play #5 Johnston again found #3 Goforth close to the goal line who caught the ball and is then promptly hit by the Cougars who forced the fumble.
Pulaski would hang on to win on the road after recovering
the loose ball, 13-3.
