If you had an umbrella you were a popular person on this drizzly night in Fort Chiswell.
We pick things up with the game tied at 7 in the second quarter. Fort Chiswell's Dallas Ward took the handoff through the middle and sprinted 28 yards before being pushed out at the 49 for the first down.
On the next play Pioneers quarterback Bretty Mabry danced around some defenders. And he was gone. Mabry took it 51 yards for the score. Fort Chiswell got the two-point conversion to take a 15-7 advantage.
Still in the second quarter and Fort Chiswell had the pigskin. Mabry handed off to Patrick Beidleman who spun outside and upfield before being brought down at the 3.
On 3rd-and-goal from the 1 Mabry called his own number for another TD. Fort Chiswell extended its lead to 22-7.
In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats were trying to claw back into it after getting an interception. Marcus Finley looked to pass but no one was open. He fumbled and fell on it in his own endzone for the safety. The Pioneers were up 24-7.
Later in the fourth Finley heaved it deep. Rasheed Jordan stretched out for the spectacular catch. That brought Radford to within 10.
But it wouldn't be enough. Fort Chiswell advances, 31-14.
