In Vinton, William Byrd was fresh off an open date, rested and ready to host Rockbridge County at Bob Patterson Stadium.

The home team was showing a little rust early, trying to knock it off at the Dog Pound.

Early on quarterback, Zac Hill rolled out and threw down the middle for Hunter Shepherd who hauled in the big completion for Byrd.

Hill then did it himself on a 12 yard touchdown run to the corner of the endzone to make it 7-nothing Terriers.

Rockbridge was looking for the equalizer.  Cameron Wood felt the rush, got forced out of the pocket and then launched it downfield for Tyler Swisher who made the grab in the endzone to tie things at 7-all.

The Wildcats were on the move again facing a fourth and 8 when Wood went to TJ Tyree for 10 yards to pick up the first down.

Rockbridge had to settle for a field goal off the foot of Gabe Ramirez to take a 10-7 lead but Byrd roared back with 14 unanswered points to win it 21 to 10.
