LEXINGTON, Va. -

After two straight 9-3 seasons that ended at the hands of Brookville, Rockbridge County is hoping the VHSL realignment will help them get farther into the postseason.

But Rockbridge isn't focused on just another 9-3 season, they want to go far especially in a tough Division three section.

"To be honest, the last few years, region three has had three or four of the five, six best teams in the state," said Rockbridge Head Coach Jason White. "We're beating heads in the first, second round of the playoffs, whereas I feel like we should be playing longer."

Rockbridge returns ten starters on defense and six on offense.

One area, the Wildcats are hoping to improve this August is on the offensive line. They graduated four players from the o-line this past school year. "We've got seven or eight guys battling it out for five spots," said White. "Competition breeds excellence and brings out the best in everyone. And you know the cream rises to the top."

The Wildcats have three goals this season; Win the district, section and of course a State Championship. They begin the march toward those goals August 30th when they travel to Parry McCluer.
