George Wythe lost to Holston last week for the first time since 1991.  This week the Maroons were in bounce back mode against their neighbors from Rural Retreat. It was senior night in Wytheville and the Maroons were looking to avoid back-to-back losses.

Midway through the 1st quarter, the Maroons were already up a TD. Darius Moore found Elijah Onks who made a great grab and then flew in to the end zone. The Maroons were up 14-zip.

Rural Retreat was trying to make something happen a little later on 3rd-and-7 when Moore picked off Chase Heldreth and gave it right back to the Maroons.

George Wythe was looking to cash in. Moore handed off to Trey Skeens who scooted up the field for another 6. Skeens also converted the 2pt conversion. It was 22-0 with early in the second.

Rural Retreat finally got something going as Jordan Corbin took the ball in to the end zone from 10 yards out with some tough running. Corbin notched the two-point conversion as well making it 29-8.

But Skeens was just getting started. He broke off this long touchdown run.

It was all George Wythe. The Maroons beat Rural Retreat 55 to 22.
