SALEM, Va. -

The home standing Salem Spartans hoped to continue their offensive outburst of the past few weeks against Woodgrove. Salem had scored 42 or more points in seven of the last eight games.

It was 7-0 Spartans and they were looking for more here as Coleman Fox gets the call. He found daylight down the sideline and scooted 76 big yards to the house, virtually untouched, and just like that it was 14-zip Salem.

Salem got a gift on the ensuing possession. The Spartans’ Devantae Payne tracked down a bad snap over the quarterback’s head, and fell on the pigskin at the 23 yard line to put the offense back in business.

On the very next play, it was Fox again. This time he hopped outside and took a shot at the goal line but scores six more early in the second to make it 21 to nothing.

Payne added a two-yard plunge, and it was 28 to 7 Spartans. Salem is moving onto the state semifinals with the 42-25 win over Woodgrove. The Spartans head to Sherando next week.
