Hagerstown’s Christian Binford will spend the remainder of the season pitching for the Burlington Royals, the Appalachian League short-season rookie affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

Binford has been in the Arizona Instructional League since he signed his contract last August after being drafted in the 30th round in the 2011 Major League Baseball draft.

Binford will be the second youngest on a staff of 15 pitchers. 

The Royals’ top pick in 2011, Bubba Starling, will also begin his career at Burlington.
