In college coaching news, confirming what has been rumored for the past three days, the Virginia Tech Hokies have decided to hire former University of Texas offensive line coach Stacy Searels to replace Jeff Grimes who left for the same position with LSU last week.
Searels should be in place by this weekend which is huge for recruiting.  Nearly 20 prospects are expected to be on campus.
In addition to Texas, the 48 year old has worked at LSU, Georgia, Cincinnati, and Appalachian State.   He was an All American lineman as a player at Auburn.  During his three seasons at Texas, the Longhorns were among the top 50 teams in the country rushing the football.
Searels interviewed this weekend in Blacksburg and Frank Beamer clearly moved quickly on the hire with national signing day just two weeks away.  The official announcement should come from Tech in the next few days.
