Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch was in Martinsville on Wednesday, and he got in a little extra practice for next month's Tums 500 at the Martinsville Speedway.
Track President Clay Campbell and Busch took turns giving about 30 media members, including yours truly, a spin around the half-mile paperclip track, getting close to 100 miles per hour on the straightaways.
It was a fun day on the track and there haven't been very many of those for the driver, known as Rowdy, this season. He has just one win and failed to make the postseason Chase.
“There's really nothing in 12 that we've got left to accomplish besides wins so we'll try to do that and get our M&M's team in victory lane before the year is out,” Busch said. “Other than that, our push right now is our new cars to start working on them and we've got a couple of tests coming up for the 20-13 car so you've got to start out the year better. We had a few dismal runs early in the year and then we had our may stretch where we finished in the top ten, five weeks in a row, and then we knocked ourselves out of the chase and haven't been able to recover.”
