NCAA Baseball Round-up: UVA wins Regional; Oklahoma beats Virginia Tech

Liberty University resumes its game with South Carolina on Monday.

The University of Virginia advances to the Super Regionals with an 11-3 win over Elon. The Cavaliers trailed 2-0 after giving-up a 2-run homerun in the first inning, but came back with 6 runs in the third to take the lead for good.

Nick Howard led the way at the plate, finishing 4-5 with 2 RBI.

Virginia Tech’s season came to an end Sunday night with a 10-4 loss to Oklahoma in the regional final. The Hokies were up 2-0 until the 6th when the Sooners scored 4 runs to take the lead. It remained a one-run game until the 9th, when the Sooners piled it on with 6 runs in the inning.

The Hokies had 5 players with multiple hits.

Other NCAA Baseball notes: NC State won the Raleigh Regional, defeating William and Mary 9-2. Liberty University trails South Carolina 4-2 in the 5th inning. The game has been postponed because of storms. They will resume play Monday at 1:00 p.m.
