BLACKSBURG, Va. -

Virginia Tech wants to continue playing the role of the Avengers.

The 24th-ranked Hokies have climbed into the Top 25 for first time in more than a year, and they would love to celebrate by avenging another blowout loss from last season when they play Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Last week, the Hokies (5-1, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) avenged a loss at North Carolina last season with a 27-17 victory, their fifth in a row.

This week, Pittsburgh is squarely in the crosshairs. The Panthers (3-1, 2-1) beat Virginia Tech 35-17 last season and have won four in a row in the series.

Linebacker Tariq Edwards says watching film of the loss was "kind of disgusting."

Quarterback Logan Thomas says the Hokies are glad to have the chance to make amends.
