CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- -

Virginia is shaking things up in an attempt to get its offense moving.

Coach Mike London says the coaching staff wants to "send a message that no one gets comfortable."

The Cavaliers (2-2) play high-scoring Ball State (4-1) on Saturday. The Falcons average 40 points and 472 yards per game.

Virginia is moving right tackle Jay Whitmire to right guard and starting freshman Eric Smith at right tackle this week.

Offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild says they will also bring more wide receivers into the rotation after Virginia dropped 10 passes in a 14-3 loss at Pitt.

Fairchild says, "We need to improve in every area in a hurry, and that includes myself."

The loss at Pittsburgh came a week after the Panthers allowed 55 points against Duke.
