A Fancy Gap man was killed by his son in a hunting accident on New Year’s Day.

According to the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the 13-year-old boy thought he was shooting a deer.

His father, Sansford Ray Semones, was about 160 yards away and was not wearing blaze orange when he was shot and killed.
