She likely saved the life of an 8 year old boy.
Erin Bolster grew up riding horses at Meadow Wood Stables in Roanoke County.
She moved out west two years ago to become a horse wrangler in Montana.
In July, Erin had a group of eight on a one hour trip, including a father and his 8 year old son.

About 15 minutes into the ride, Erin's horse, Tonk, froze.
A small deer was headed straight for them.
Behind it was a 700 pound grizzly bear!
The animal's focus quickly changed from the deer to the small horse carrying the young boy.
Erin turned her horse around and got between the boy and the grizzly.
    Then, she charged the bear!
It veered off about 10 feet in front of them.

"I didn't have time to be scared when I was doing it. I just had to react. For me it was just not an option for that little boy to be in front of that bear when he got to him," said Bolster.

Erin's run in with that grizzly bear and the bravery she and her horse showed are getting her national recognition.
She's set to appear on the David Letterman show on October 11.
    Tonk will be there too!
