You can't hunt on Sunday in Virginia -- for now.

But that law could soon change, as early as next hunting season.

Finding someone who loves to hunt isn't hard to track down, especially at a Hunting Expo.

But you won't catch them hunting on Sunday because it’s illegal in Virginia.

Scott Durham is an avid hunter and believes hunting should not be allowed on Sunday. "People are in church and don't want to hear a gun going off," explained Durham.

For some hunters, like Stephanie Hill, the ban has kept them from their hobby all together. Hill explains, “"The only day I have off is Sunday because I work Monday through Saturday. I work hours that I can't go hunting after work."

Soon the rules could change.

The State Senate approved a proposed law that would allow you to hunt on Sunday but only on private land.

Those against this proposed law say Sunday is supposed to be a day for relaxation, not hunting.

Hill says hunting on Sunday is a religious and sacred experience. "Hunting, Christianity and church go hand and hand; its creation, being one with God and nature," said Hill.

Now, the bill will go to the Virginia House of Delegates. If passed, it could open up Sunday hunting this year.
