So what does it take to catch that big trophy fish?

Experts say it's all about the bait you use and what time you fish.

For this time of year, the best is early in the morning just before the sun comes up.

Anglers also suggest some good places to cast your line.

"This time of year they always relate to some type of structure the large mouth do, they're always in rock piles, brush piles, fallen trees, some grass in the lake, they relate to some of the grass, the high places where the water is shallower," fishing guide Dale Wilson said.

Wilson say's using live bait is okay but if you want a real challenge, stick to artificial worms.
