Our region is a favorite for Appalachian Trail hikers and one hometown celebrates its relationship to the trail this weekend.
Some hikers walk the entire 2,000-mile length of the trail, while others, hike shorter sections.
Many of them pass through the community of Troutville, which is recognized as an official Appalachian Trail Community.
Right now in Troutville Town Park, the first annual "Trail Days" is underway.
The activities continue until 11 tonight and then start again Saturday morning at 10.
The event has games, food, skits and a wide variety of clinics and music.
