Virginia Department of Forestry names first female regional forester

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The Virginia Department of Forestry has appointed its first female regional forester.

The agency says in a news release that Toni Noreika will lead the agency's 30-county Eastern Region.

Noreika has worked at the agency since 1985, most recently as an assistant regional forester in the Waverly office. The Suffolk resident will be one of three regional foresters in the state.
