The Washington Redskins say Joshua Morgan's mother is OK after he was unable to reach her during the shootings at Washington Navy Yard.
Morgan said his mother, Lawanda Ware-Brown, works for the Department of Defense on the same floor where at least one gunman opened fire Monday morning, killing at least six people.
Morgan was checking his cellphone as he stood at his locker. He said he had tried to call his mother 30 times and was "praying and hoping" that she was all right.
Minutes later, one of Morgan's cousins tweeted that the family had heard from Ware-Brown and that she was unhurt. Morgan verified the account as belonging to his cousin.
