Designated hitter Sean Coyle drove in four runs with two doubles, helping the Salem Red Sox knock off the Potomac Nationals, 6-4, to claim the Mills Cup Championship Tuesday night.

The win finished off a clean three-game sweep for the Carolina League title.

Coyle was named the series MVP.  Former Hokie Matt Price picked up the save in relief.

The Sox won a remarkable 11 games in a row to end the season, including five straight in the playoffs to cap off a stellar finishing run to the season.

"I think it's a testament to these guys," manager Billy McMillon said after the game. "These guys came out every day and worked hard. They wanted it really badly, and you could really see the enthusiasm with all the guys and how they went about their business. It was a truly remarkable journey these guys had this summer."
