Despite being 4-6 with two games to play, the Virginia Tech Hokies say they are still a confident team, and while it may not seem like it, this group still has something to play for.
The Virginia Tech Hokies find themselves in last place in the ACC's Coastal Division with two games to play. They've lost five of their last six games. Their last victory came exactly one month ago. The Hokies can still make a bowl game, but there is plenty of work to be done, starting with Saturday's 12-30 contest at Boston College.
Any time you get a chance to go step on the field it's a blessing,” quarterback Logan Thomas said. “We know that we gotta have these next two to go to a bowl and we're excited about it because the added pressure makes you play better.”
Virginia Tech cornerback Antone Exum said: “I don't really think we're gonna change anything we're doing or try to over coach it or put too much pressure on ourselves or anything like that. But at the same time we know that these are two must-win games so it's something that just has to get done.”
“Losses to Clemson, Miami and Florida State we averaged like 404 yards and the other teams averaged like 317 but it just goes back to turnovers and inconsistent play. I think we've gotten better but we're not where we need to be,” Thomas said.
The Hokies have lost seven straight games away from Lane Stadium and have one final guaranteed chance to pick up a road win this weekend.
