You can always expect some fireworks when Gretna and William Campbell get together in the Dogwood District. Friday night was no different in Naruna.
William Campbell was already down 3-nothing when Quante Adams hooked up with Reyshaun Lee, who he got around the Hawks' defense on this 13-yard pitch and catch.
The Generals kept it moving with Damium Lockett, who saw a hole in the Hawks' secondary and nothing but daylight as he finds the house for the Generals, putting them on top 7-3 at the end of the 1st quarter.
A few minutes later, William Campbell with the ball again. Lockett went to the air finding what is sure to be his favorite target Lee on a 42-yard strike to put the Generals in business. But William Campbell couldn't cash it in.
And the Hawks make them pay. Gretna's Dyon Rosser connected with Von Bennett on a 63 yard bomb putting the Hawks up 9-7.
But with 51 seconds left on the clock, the Generals snatch momentum right back. They drive down the field and get back on the scoreboard with a 21 yard strike from Lockett to Malik Slayton putting the Generals on top 14 -9 at the half.
But that was William Campbell's last time finding the endzone. The Hawks soared to victory Friday with the 32 to 14 win.
