Bobby Martin is the new coach at George Washington Danville, becoming the third football coach in the last four seasons at the school.
About 75 kids showed up on opening day. Three of the Eagles’ first four games are at home, followed by four tough ones in a row on the road.
Last year's team went 6 and 5, losing in the first round of the playoffs, but Martin hopes to improve on that in 2012.
“It's been a great summer. Guys have really worked hard and they're starting to become a team. I'm trying to keep it even. I'm sure the kids have already spotted out different games but I'm trying to keep it even and take it one week and one game at a time. I think they're really ready, maybe too excited but I think they're ready to have a great season,” Martin said.
