RADFORD, Va.—
Dreams came true for Eddie Butler on the first night of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.
The Radford right-hander was selected in the first compensatory round, 46th overall, by the Colorado Rockies.
Butler was 7-4 with a 2.20 earned run average for the Highlanders in 2012. He struck out 95 batters and opponents managed just a .217 batting average against the junior.
He is Radford's highest-ever draft pick in program history and the third-highest selection in Big South history. Butler is the first top-50 pick for the conference since 1986.
