The Virginia Tech Hokies are between the proverbial rock and a hard place when it comes to their postseason bowl hopes, but it's pretty simple -- win two and go bowling.
One thing we do know is that redshirt freshman safety Michael Cole from Cave Spring High School here in Roanoke will not suit up this weekend at Boston College.
Cole suffered a neck strain in the second half of Thursday night's loss to Florida State and was taken off the field on a stretcher. He never lost consciousness and was released from the hospital later that night. But he does still have some stiffness and soreness in the neck, and today the Hokies medical staff addressed his health.
“WIth the motion and stuff, everything is better,” Virginia Tech team doctor Mark Rogers said. The numbness that he had the other night is resolved, so it's just following the strength and some of the tightness that he had in his neck. He's gonna be sore for who knows how long. So we need to get a lot of that stuff out through rehab and just time before he can get back to any kind of football activity or anything else significant.”
