You know it wasn't a typical year for Virginia Tech football when the Hokies don't have a single player named to the All ACC first team.  That's exactly what happened Monday when the teams were released, and it marks the first time since Tech joined the ACC in 2004 that the Hokies have been snubbed.
Cornerback Antone Exum, who struggled early in the year but came on strong over the last five games, is a second team selection.  He had 15 pass breakups, 47 tackles, and four interceptions.
Defensive end James Gayle also was named to the second team today.  Gayle had 40 tackles including 5 sacks.
And linebacker Jack Tyler joins Gayle and Exum.  Tyler led the Hokies with 112 tackles.  Included in that number were 11 tackles for loss and 2 and a half sacks.
At UVA, the Cavaliers did have two first team selections.  Left tackle Oday Aboushi averaged 10 knockdown blocks a game.
Linebacker Stever Greer is also a first teamer.  Greer was second in the conference in tackles this year, getting a whopping 122.  He had a career high 19 in Saturday's loss to Virginia Tech.
