Steve Fairchild has been named Virginia’s offensive coordinator.
Fairchild replaces Bill Lazor, who left the Wahoos for an assistant coaching job with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week.
Fairchild most recently was the senior offensive assistant with the San Diego Chargers. He also spent four seasons as head coach at Colorado State.
“Steve Fairchild brings a wealth of experience to Virginia and when you look at the offenses of the teams he has coached, you see high achievement,” UVA coach Mike London wrote in a news release. “Throughout his career you find Steve was a part of coaching staffs that have had tremendous offensive success and we are really fortunate to have him join our staff. Larry Lewis spoke very highly of Steve as they worked together at Colorado State.”
Fairchild’s deal is for two years and $450,000 per year. He has 31 years of coaching experience.
