The Hokies are visiting the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday night in the Week 10 Thursday night game, with a spot in the ACC Championship game still in the sights of both teams.
Virginia Tech has four games left to earn their spot in the ACC Championship game for the third straight season. But to get there, the Hokies have to win their remaining games, starting with Miami, a team they've beaten in the last three meetings.
"We just have to keep being consistent with the rest of these game and hopefully everything turns out for the best and we can be playing for that ACC Championship and see what else comes down along the road,” Virginia Tech cornerback Kyshoen Jarrett said.
Quarterback Logan Thomas said, "You definitely take something from it. You definitely take the confidence up from it I guess but it's a completely different Miami team then it was the past 2 years. They're a lot more disciplined this year. I mean they're a little bit different defensively-wise too but it's always nice to have success against a team and be able to have that added confidence going into the game."
Although the Hokies have had recent success against the Canes, their last and only other meeting with Miami on a Thursday night resulted in a Tech loss. The other hurdle they have to get over is winning on the road -- something the Hokies have yet to do this season.
"I don't know what it's been on the road this year. It's just I guess one of those things that you really can't control,” Thomas said. “We've had chances every single game to be good. It's just that we haven't capitalized. That or we've had too many turnovers. So it's a little bit of everything. It's not just one thing. You know hopefully we can ourselves back on the right foot this week."
This is the seventh time the Hokies are visiting Sun Life Stadium and so far it hasn't been kind to them.
The Hokies are 2-4 in Miami, and as far as their track record goes in NFL Stadiums, they're 10-21 under Coach Beamer.
