The Hokies have been selected to the Russell Athletic Bowl to face Rutgers.  The ACC- Big East match-up is set for Friday, December 28 at 5:30 p.m. and will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Virginia Tech finished the regular season at (6-6, 4-4 ACC) to become bowl eligible for the 20th straight season.  The Hokies are 0-2 against Big East teams this season, losing to Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, but are 2-0 against Big East teams in bowl games since 2006.

The Scarlett Knights (9-3, 5-2 Big East), who won a share of the Big East title, have a 5 game bowl win streak, which is tied for the longest in the Nation.

This is the first appearance in the Orlando Bowl game for either team.
