Jeffrey Snider and Owen Stone of Boyle County each finished seventh Saturday in their best events in the State Swimming & Diving Meet at Louisville.
Snider was seventh in the boys 50-yard freestyle, and Stone was seventh in the boys 200 individual medley. They were the only two area swimmers or relay teams to qualify for Saturday’s championship finals by finishing in the top eight in Friday’s preliminaries at Ralph Wright Natatorium.
Adrian Rudd had a top-10 finish for the Boyle girls, finishing 10th in the 100 butterfly in 58.52 seconds. She was also 14th in the 100 backstroke.
Snider’s best time of the meet came in a Thursday swim-off, when he beat three other swimmers with a time of 22.04. He was seeded fifth entering the meet and eighth entering the finals, where his time was 22.17.
Stone was the No. 3 seed in the 200 IM going into the meet, and was seventh after the preliminaries, where his time was 1:57.28. His finals time was 1:57.90.
Stone was also 13th in the 100 butterfly in 54.21 seconds.
Chappie Couzens of Danville was 20th in the boys 100 breaststroke and 28th in the 200 freestyle.
Danville had the best finishes of the five local relay teams in the meet. Couzens teamed with Dylan Crow, Nate Deaton and Matt Oster for a 23rd-place finish in the 200 medley relay; and Couzens, Deaton, Oster and Rollins Grubbs were 25th in the 200 freestyle relay.
