    The wonderful Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme has brought back an exhibit that literally wowed the crowds three years ago.  The Wee Faerie Village, which includes 33 hand-made, intricate dwellings hidden around the museum's property, opened last weekend.  Visitors can see this beautiful exhibit through November 5th.

  9. Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme Hosting a Harvest Moon Dinner Dance This Friday

    Celebrate the days of fall in full Lyme Art Colony style this weekend at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme. The museum hosts a Harvest Moon Dinner Dance &amp; Benefit Auction, to coincide with the full harvest moon. The event features live and silent auctions, including a Sunday jazz brunch and croquet lessons for six at the Ocean House in Watch Hill, R.I. (pictured), as well as cocktails, music by Mass-Conn-Fusion, and a sit-down dinner from Gourmet Galley. Author and humorist Gina Barreca serves as mistress of ceremonies for the evening.   11. A Midsummer Festival's Dream

    Connecticut's shoreline is rich with history and community involvement, and Old Lyme is no exception. This Friday and Saturday, six venues in the town's historic district host the annual Midsummer Festival, a full spectrum of fun for the whole family. On Friday, view exhibitions at the Lyme Art Association (90 Lyme St.) and Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts (84 Lyme St.) from 5-7 p.m., before a concert by River City Slim &amp; the Zydeco Hogs at the Florence Griswold Museum (96 Lyme St.). Also at the museum, before the concert, is an open house and a pre-concert dinner (call Gourmey Galley at 860-415-9589 to order your food). Saturday, the Florence Griswold Museum hosts a Parading Paws Dog Show (9-11:30 a.m.), the Market En Plein Air and an Artisan Fair (both 9 a.m.-3 p.m.). The Lyme Art Association has a paperback book sale (9 a.m.-3 p.m.), and animals posting for artists to paint their pictures (10 a.m.-2 p.m.). Old Lyme Inn (85 Lyme St.) has live music from 11 a.m.-dark. Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts hosts a Youth Music Stage (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) and a book signing by Regina Barreca (1:30-2:30 p.m.). Studio 80 + Sculpture Grounds (80-1 Lyme St.) hosts and open studio. Lyme Street Merchants (10-60 Lyme St.) have sidewalk sales and more.
