1. Deer Tick Play Pearl Street in Northampton on Oct. 22

A band named after a critter that is the main cause for Lyme Disease in North America should be approached with caution. Comprised of John McCauley (guitar/vocals), Ian O’Neil (guitar/vocals), Chris Ryan (bass, vocals), Rob Crowell (keys/saxophone/vocals) and Dennis Ryan (drums/vocals), Deer Tick wants nothing more than to break free of musical boundaries. Though described by many as a folk and country group, the band’s latest release, Divine Providence (2011), proves otherwise by delivering an in-your-face rock record with distorted guitars and harsh vocals that is comparable to grunge. In fact, Deer Tick is also known to perform as their alter-ego Deervana, a Nirvana tribute group. So, come and see these guys perform some raw, loud and heartfelt music and find out if you are able to handle the after effects of a tick bite.

I have returned from a guy-clothing shopping trip, and this is what I’ve learned. - Do not be so sure when you see many plaids, rugby shirts, and a lot of denim that hardly anything has changed. - Do not assume that a guy just wants to look...

  21. Think different

If you release a wine before its time, it's not so fine. In the early 90's when the band Nirvana and grunge music out of Seattle was blowin up, I spoke with the rock band Candlebox during my KLOL days. After selling more than 4 million copies of their first album which reached #7 on Billboard's album charts, they were pissed off that their record company was forcing them to release their second album when the band knew it wasn't quite ready yet, to get more product into the market place and increase sales.
