1. Chan Lowe: Marco Rubio's State of the Union rebuttal

While going through the Letters to the Editor inbox this morning, I uncovered a particularly nasty epistle. The author felt that Marco Rubio had a lot of gall with his intention to deliver part of his official rebuttal to the State of the Union address in Spanish. With the inconsistent spelling, twisted grammar and tortured syntax in which such English-only rants are so often couched, she took it as an insult to the American people that a political speech should be made in any language but English.

3. The persistence of ignorance

The Baltimore Sun

5. Viewpoint: The good, bad and ugly of getting older

With my birthday coming up in the very near future I was thinking about some of the things that annoy those of us getting up in years. I am grateful several female friends shared their pet peeves. These aren’t in any particular order.

7. In books, Baltimore beats Denver

As the Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos get ready for their big playoff game Saturday, there are plenty of opinions about how the teams and cities compare. But in one competition -- based on books -- Baltimore wins hands down.

9. Whom to blame

The Baltimore Sun
Earlier today I posted about a passage in The Independent of Britain about the late William Rees-Mogg: Fraser Nelson, the editor of The Spectator, yesterday recalled the advice Lord Rees-Mogg gave him in 2001: "He said he took inspiration from Ben...
