    Lindsey Stirling is a classically trained violinist.   11. Our Picks: New Year's Eve Live Music in Fairfield County

    We hadn't planned on surviving the Mayan-predicted end of the world last week, so we haven't yet firmed up plans for New Year's Eve. If you're in the same situation, we'd like to offer a few options at area bars in which there will be bands playing. Because, you know... we're into that whole live music thing. For the dancing festival-going type crowd, the <strong>Ryan Montbleau Band </strong>wraps up its two-show stint at StageOne, and the $62 ticket includes a champagne toast too. Or you could head up to Toad's Place in New Haven for some Dead covers with <strong>Shakedown</strong>, with a balloon drop, party favors, champagne and a continental breakfast. Two Boots hosts <strong>Bad Mojo </strong>while the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester welcomes the <strong>Funky Meters</strong>, featuring two members of the original Meters.<strong></strong>

    Let's make sure not to forget those less-fortunate children who still deserve a magical holiday experience this year. On Dec. 22, you have your choice of two holiday benefit shows, raising not just money, but donations of toys for some of our local kiddos. Northbound Express is rocking Aunt Chilada's in Hamden, as part of their CD release show, and hoping to raise money/toys for the Children's Center of Hamden. A $5 donation or some new, unwrapped toys get you in. Kung Fu is hosting their annual Toys for Tots Holiday Spectacular at Toad's Place that same evening, teaming up with 24 Hour Music Project to also help fight domestic violence. <strong><em></em></strong>
