The first full week of basketball has arrived. There's no more time for pick-up games as players will need all their energy for practice and games they play that week. Below is a quick recap of this night in girls basketball.
Greater Wichita Athletic League
Bishop Carroll almost doubled up on the Aces, defeating Wichita East 53-27
Wichita Heights humiliated North, holding them to just 11 points in four quarters of basketball. Heights on the other hand had no trouble scoring. They won by 48 points, scoring 59 total.
Kapun Mt. Carmel had quite the competition against Wichita South edging the in the final moments to win 40-32.
Wichita Northwest took on West in what was, after the first 5 minutes, never a close game. The Grizzlies blew out the Pioneers to move to 2 and 0.
AVCTL
Goddard Eisenhower girls won the very first game of their entire existence on Tuesday against the Salthawks. Previously the Eisenhower girls had been 0-22, but not tonight. Hutchinson didn't make it easy on them pushing the game to the final seconds, but in the end Eisenhower wouldn't be denied. The Tigers triumphed 60-54.
Campus Colt sports finally got on the path of success when their Girls dominated an over-matched Arkansas City team. It was a romp for the Colt girls, 80-44.
The Panthers of Derby pounced on a struggling Lions team winning by 20 over the Goddard girls. It was never close 43-23.
Andover pushed Maize to the limit making one last grasp for the win in the final minutes of this thriller. Maize finally got away from the trailing Trojans escaping with a 53-47 victory.
Andover Central had an even closer contest against Salina Central in "The Battle of the Centrals". Getting by with just enough offense Andover got away from the grasp of the Jaguar's teeth.
Buhler made certain there was no mistaking their dominance over Smoky Valley (Lindsburg). Shutting down the Vikings offense and holding them to 27 points, the Crusaders went on to score 61.
Garden Plain had no problem with Rose Hill handling them with a 35 point victory.
Andale gave Winfield the business, in what was almost an illegal affair the Indians stomped the Vikings from south-central Kansas.
Non-League
Abilene rounded up Rock Creek and put them in their place with a 40-26 victory.
Salina Sacred Heart lost in a defensive struggle against Wetmore, 39-33.
Valley Center showed up against Chaparral in a game that brought the Hornets their first win in the Cheney Tournament this year. The 57-32 victory brings them one game closer to the Championship on Saturday December eighth.
Collegiate proved to just be overwhelmed on the court. They were only able to muster 28 points while giving up 70 to Cheney.
Hesston brought an attitude to the Garden Plain tournament, moving on after defeating Emporia 51-28.
Ell-Saline lost a close one to a stout Central Plains team in the Russell Tournament. Central Plains handed Ell-Saline its first loss of the season after holding them to half-a-hundred points and putting up 59 of their own.
Hillsboro defeated an equally talented Moundridge team on Tuesday, 38-32.
Kingman proved their name is on the title of the Kingman Tournament for a reason and were too much for Medicine Lodge to handle. The Lady Indians lost 44-23.
Conway Springs lost to Sterling 56-52, ending their bid for a perfect tournament record.
Halstead wouldn't be denied as the Dragons pushed their fourth quarter lead to 13 securing their victory over Minneapolis.
