Rockwood Area High School students of the month at the Somerset Exchange Club were Elle Enos and Cody Sterner.
Elle Enos is the daughter of J.R. and Aimee Enos. She is involved in several school organizations. This year she held the offices of National Honor Society president and class president. Other organizations she is involved in are student council, Future Business Leaders of America and the Forensics Speech League. She is a High Honor student and strives to excel in academics.
This year she is dually enrolled in the Allegany College of Maryland, where she takes college level classes to better prepare me for my future. Future Business Leaders of America has played a key role in her academic success. Last year her community service project team made it to the National FBLA competition in Orlando, Fla.
Outside of school, she is an active member of the High Ridge 4-H Club, member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and Cotillion. Over the past few years she has become an advocate for raising money for local cancer programs and the Somerset Humane Society. This year will be the second annual Taking Steps Against Cancer 5K Run/Walk. All proceeds benefit Cyndi's Hope Fund, an affiliate of Somerset Hospital, which provides funds for cancer treatments and prevention.
Each spring Enos also organizes an annual event "Accessorize for Paws," to raise money for the Somerset Humane Society. She participated along with her mother in the Susan G. Komen 60 mile Race for the Cure, where they raised money for the Komen Foundation.
Cody Sterner is the son of Greg and Kristie Sterner. He is 17 and a senior enrolled in the college preparatory classes at Rockwood Area High School.
Sterner is involved in various extracurricular activities. He has been a 4-year letter winner in varsity soccer and was captain his senior year. Throughout his soccer career, he has been named to the All-County First Team three years and was named Midfielder of the Year his senior year. He has made the WestPAC team two years.
Sterner is also involved in multiple academic activities. He is a member of National Honor Society, student council and Future Business Leaders of America. He is also involved in chorus where he has attended county chorus three years.
Sterner's future plans include attending Potomac State College for two years where he hopes to further his soccer career. He then plans to transfer to West Virginia University to pursue a career as a civil engineer.
