9. Mickey Rooney discusses 90 years in showbiz at The Edgerton Center in Fairfield

Mickey Rooney is old school. Like, really, really old school. He was discovered in 1922 at 17 months old when he sneezed during his father's vaudeville act at a Chicago Theater. The spotlight traced the sneeze to Rooney, and he responded by blowing on the tiny toy mouth organ that was hanging on a string around his neck. The audience loved it. He's been in over 200 films since. Rooney will discuss his 90 years in show biz Saturday night at the Edgerton Center during an Actors Studio style presentation hosted by Jerry Goehring, Executive Director of the venue. The Q&A segment can be used to ask questions about his fequent co-star Judy Garland or his eight wives, the first of which was Ava Gardner in 1942. This guy is kind of awesome.

  11. Crime and Punishment: Bethany police officers deny issuing quotas

Southington real estate agent Christian Bedard allegedly demanded an SUV to keep quiet about all the gay sex he says he had with Minnesota Twins pitcher Carl Pavano. Bedard allegedly sent a message, via Facebook, to the MLB player's sister, threatening to write a tell-all memoir about the love affair the two men supposedly shared when they were students at Southington High School. "[T]he only way your brother is getting out of this … is with a heartfelt apology and a navy Range Rover with [a] tan leather [interior]," he wrote, according to police documents glimpsed by the Record-Journal of Meriden. Bedard says Pavano's sister preemptively contacted him about buying his silence and he was just joking about the Range Rover.

  21. Tucker Carlson and Eugene H. Robinson speak at The Edgerton Center in Fairfield

As our nation gears up for another presidential election, we're going to have to get used to media saturation on the subject. Two journalists who will be at the forefront of the assault will be Tucker Carlson, currently with Fox News and thedailycaller.com, and Eugene H. Robinson of the Washington Post. In a discussion called "A View from Left to Right," the two will debate the issues of the day that are polarizing the left from the right. Carlson looks significantly less wormy since he stopped wearing his signature bowtie in 2006, but don't be fooled: He's still hurting America just as bad as he was when John Stewart called him out on "Crossfire" back in 2004 (was that eight years ago already? Really?). I'm sure he loves that the incident still haunts him today.
