“The American Lung Association’s program is the gold standard for smoking cessation programs nationally, and it teaches adult smokers the skills and techniques they need to focus exclusively on how to quit, and more importantly, to stay quit,” said Elyse Carroll, pulmonary rehabilitation coordinator at the hospital. “Several community members and HSC employees have already quit smoking after going through the first session of the program this past September at HSC.”

The eight-session clinic will be held in room 1515 at the hospital from 2:30  to 4 p.m. on March 21, March 28, April 4, April 9, April 11, April 18, April 25 and May 2.

“The program will take participants through several lessons first that will help them transition to prepare to quit before the actual Quit Day happens,” Carroll added.

The cost is $100 per participant.  Pre-registration and attendance of all eight sessions is required.  To register or get details, contact Elyse Carroll at 860-832-6256.
